Pillar 3a is a central element of private retirement planning in Switzerland. It offers not only financial security in retirement, but also interesting tax advantages. But how much can you actually pay in each year? The answer depends on whether you are affiliated with a pension fund or not.
Annual contributions 2025 β current maximum amounts
For employed persons with a pension fund:
The maximum amount is CHF 7,258 per year (as of 2025).
For employed persons without a pension fund (e.g. self-employed):
The maximum amount is 20% of net income, but no more than CHF 36,288 per year (as of 2025).
Tip:
The amount does not have to be paid in all at once β monthly or flexible partial payments are also possible.
